The coordinator of the Pavilion of Turkey at la Biennale di Venezia since 2007, the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV) had issued a two-stage open call for the selection of the project to be presented at the Pavilion in next year's 18th International Architecture Exhibition.

The Selection Committee, consisting of Aslı Çiçek, Neyran Turan, Prof. Dr. Ayşen Savaş, Han Tümertekin and Ertuğ Uçar, invited four of the 24 project applications received in the first stage to apply for the second round of evaluations. The selected projects are as follows:

> Welcoming Invaders: A Laboratory for Public Life
Hülya Ertaş, Laura Muyldermans and Sander Rutgers

> Ghost Stories: Carrier Bag Theory of Architecture
Sevince Bayrak and Oral Göktaş

> OPIFEX
Hakan Tüzün Şengün, Sinan Logie and Kibele Yarman

> 60 square metres or less (≤ 60 m2)
Open Urban Practice

In the first phase of the open call, projects were evaluated on the relevancy of the curatorial theme, the feasibility of the proposed project and the organisational structure of the curatorial team. In the second stage, they will be asked to provide a more detailed presentation of their exhibition design, working method, printed materials, calendar and budget. The leader or leaders of the selected projects will be offered a progress payment to deepen their research and present their projects to the members of the Selection Committee and the İKSV team.

The project to take part in the Pavilion of Turkey at the 18th International Architecture Exhibition of la Biennale di Venezia will be announced on 17 November.
