Young artists from Turkey are invited to participate in an educational programme associated with the 12th Istanbul Biennial. The four-day program will take place October 24-27, 2011, in collaboration with Berliner Künstlerprogramm of the DAAD. Over the course of the four days, biennial artists Nazım Hikmet Richard Dikbaş, Cevdet Erek, Martha Rosler, and Florin Tudor will conduct workshops discussing works in the biennial and creating new projects with the participating young artists. Following the themes of the 12th Istanbul Biennial, the focus will be on the relationship between art and politics, and artworks that are both formally innovative and politically outspoken. The program will be followed by a panel discussion by Nazım Hikmet Richard Dikbaş, Cevdet Erek and Martha Rosler; the curator of the 12th Istanbul Biennial, Jens Hoffmann; and the director of the visual arts department of the Berliner Künstlerprogramm of the DAAD, Ariane Beyn. Both panel discussion and the workshops are free of charge.
To participate, please send a one-paragraph statement explaining why you want to participate in this particular program to application.biennial@iksv.org
