Tarsem Singh's most well-known film, the 2006 cult fantasy-adventure The Fall, is restored by MUBI and is returning to the big screen for a very special avant premiere at İKSV Galas!

The Fall, which was shot in four years without special effects in dozens of locations in 24 countries, has never been released in Türkiye and has never been on any platform's catalogues until today.

A commercial, music video, and feature film director, Tarsem Singh is a versatile artist known for his creativity and innovation. Singh had mentioned the restoration of The Fall at a festival talk at Istanbul Film Festival last April. The restored director's cut version of the film was first screened at Locarno Film Festival in August. In this version, adjustments were made to improve the viewer experience and cut scenes totalling about 2 minutes in length were added. Singh describes the film as 'a grown-up’s fairy tale'.

The Fall is set in Los Angeles in the 1920s, during the silent film era. In the hospital where a little immigrant girl is recuperating after breaking her arm falling from a tree, she befriends a bedridden stuntman who was injured in a fall on a set. In order to save them both from the dreary hospital mood, the man begins to tell the young girl a gripping story about a cruel ruler, and she embellishes this fantastic epic with her own imagination.

Shot in amazing and diverse locations from the Deadvlei sand dunes in Namibia to the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul, from Buenos Aires to Bali, from the Taj Mahal to the Colosseum, the film was produced and financed by Tarsem Singh and stars Lee Pace, Catinca Untaru, Justine Waddell and Daniel Caltagirone.
