Located at the basement floor of the Nejat Eczacıbaşı Building, İKSV Alt Kat has been designed as a multi-purpose and accessible venue spanning 120-meter squares that provides a learning and interaction space for people of all ages with a year-round free events programme and its rich library.

The event space of İKSV Alt Kat, with technical specifications including a seating arrangement for 50 people, sound and projection systems, workshop space for children and adults, and a modular dance floor, is designed to accommodate events of various disciplines and scales.

The workspace of İKSV Alt Kat consists of three workstations, laptops, a scanner-printer and Internet access. Researchers are provided with active and easy access to the İKSV library and archives with the RFID collection management system and physical study/research opportunities.

Realised as a part of Istanbul Development Agency’s (İSTKA) 2018 Financial Support for Children and Youth Programme, the architectural design of İKSV Alt Kat was undertaken by Superpool. The laminated glass installation titled “Flare” designed by Superpool was produced with the contributions of BCE Glass. The work and office spaces at İKSV Alt Kat were sponsored by ERSA Furniture, kitchen section by Intema Yaşam and the bathroom sections by VitrA. The Bernard van Leer Foundation has lent its support in making the venue accessible to children and families.
