The Young Jazz+ album
The Young Jazz+ 23 music album was released on various digital platforms with the support of the İKSV Young Artist Fund and Mehmet Uluğ Fund. The album features original works by six ensembles who were selected to the 30th Istanbul Jazz Festival’s Young Jazz+ programme: Eggmann Quartet, BÜMK Orkestra, Keskin Band, Zonda 4, Projektiles and Esra Gürçay Quartet feat. Peter Shalamov.
Five plays at the 27th Istanbul Theatre Festival programme
At the 27th Istanbul Theatre Festival, the productions of five plays by young theatre artists were supported: Istanbul Mon Amour Beyoğlu by Ahmet Sami Özbudak; The Grand Zarifi Apartment, written by H. Can Utku and Ilias Maroutsis, designed and directed by İlyas Özçakır; Freak, written by Firuze Engin and directed by Güray Dinçol; The Teapot Left a White Stain on My Mother’s Roewood Table written by Ferdi Çetin and directed by Kayhan Berkin; and the festival’s guest from the earthquake zone, the Atta Festival production HermiTrio, written and directed by Semih Ali Aksoy, who is also among the receivers of the Gülriz Sururi-Engin Cezzar Theatre Encouragement Award presented by İKSV.
Four artists selected for the Turkey Workshop of Paris Cité Internationale des Arts
Four artists working in the field of visual arts were offered the opportunity to spend three months each at the Turkey Workshop of Paris Cité Internationale des Arts, one of Europe’s leading art institutions. This year, Eda Aslan, Fatma Belkıs, Didem Erbaş and Etem Şahin participated in the programme. İKSV has been organising the Turkey Workshop at Cité Internationale des Arts since 2009, to offer artists from different disciplines the opportunity to live and work in Paris.
A new composition commissioned by the 51st Istanbul Music Festival
Meriç Artaç’s new composition for the ‘They Have Waited Long Enough’ concert that premiered at the 51st Istanbul Music Festival, was also supported by the fund. Following the debut concert in Istanbul, the concert featuring compositions by Kate Moore and Aida Shirazi besides Meriç Artaç, toured the Wonderfeel Festival in the Netherlands in July 2023. The project was co-produced by the Istanbul Music Festival, Wonderfeel Festival and Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival.
Two film projects selected by the German-Turkish Co-Production Development Fund
The İKSV Young Artist Fund has also contributed to two film projects, Ramin Matin’s Night Music for Dogs and Sinem Kanat’s Out of the Blue, that were among the selected projects of the German-Turkish Co-Production Development Fund at this year’s Meetings on the Bridge co-production market, organised annually as part of the Istanbul Film Festival.
