Birlikte Güçlü Sesler Chorus project, implemented last year with the collaboration of the İstanbul Music Festival and the support of İstanbul Development Agency (İSTKA), continues to bring children and teenagers from different parts of İstanbul together with music through new choir rehearsals.
Birlikte Güçlü Sesler Chorus I, founded in 2019, had brought together visually-impaired and hearing-impaired children and teenagers together with volunteers from the Music for Peace Foundation’s Youth Chorus. This year, Birlikte Güçlü Sesler Chorus II, consisting of Turkish and refugee children, has started rehearsals.
Birlikte Güçlü Sesler Chorus II, made possible with the valuable contributions of United Nations Higher Commission for Refugees (UNHCR), includes children who have been referred from Human Resources Development Foundation (İKGV), Mavi Kalem Social Aid and Solidarity Foundation and The Association for Solidarity with Asylum Seekers and Migrants (SGDD-ASAM) programmes for refugees.
The choir conducted by Zeynep Eren Kovankaya will perform a free concert under the scope of 48th İstanbul Music Festival with a multilingual repertoire.
