İKSV Alt Kat, in collaboration with the Istanbul Design Biennial and Graphic Designers Professional Organisation (GMK), is implementing the Camekân project, a public space production for young designers whom are either university students or new graduates under the age of 26.

Within the scope of the project realised with the support of the Istanbul Development Agency (ISTKA), the six square meter display case located on the facade of the İKSV Alt Kat: Learning and Interaction Space will transform into a design and production area during March 2019 – March 2020.

The designs selected by the selection committee after the open calls are displayed publicly for a one-month period per design in the showcase on the front of the IKSV Alt Kat.

The first stage of the Camekân project started in March 2019 and was completed in July 2019. The second stage of the project will take place between September 2019 – March 2020.

During the first stage of the project, the selection committee consisted of; Director of the Istanbul Design Biennial Deniz Ova, Director of İKSV Corporate Identity and Publishing Didem Ermiş, artist, designer and GMK member Pınar Akkurt, graphic designer, MSFAU faculty member and GMK member Umut Düdüak, and Fol Studio Creative Director and GMK Vice Chairman Volkan Ölmez.

Selection committee members for the second stage of the project consisted of; Director of the Istanbul Design Biennial Deniz Ova, Director of İKSV Corporate Identity and Publishing Didem Ermiş, and GMK members Özge Güven, Emre Çıkınoğlu and Ardan Ergüven.

During the first stage of the project that took place in March, April, May, June and July of 2019, the designers showcased at Camekân belonged to Ceren Abay, Nagihan Aydınlık, Talip Özer, Alp Eren Tekin and Sena Yılmaz.

The design work to be displayed during the second period in September, November, December of 2019 and January of 2020 belong to İsrahan Demirelli, Sadi Gökay Gadış, Sevinç Karagöz, Sümeyra Derin Kumbasar and Şule Yılmaz.

In connection with Camekân, speeches and events on design are also being organised at İKSV Alt Kat: Learning and Interaction Space.
